San Benito High School’s College and Career Center is busy preparing for this year’s Virtual Senior Awards Night to be held on Wednesday, May 20.
Scholarship Advisor Mary Andrade received more than 1,300 applications from 124 Baler seniors for 85 scholarships being offered. Mrs. Andrade is busy collecting all the necessary data from our generous community to award to our seniors.
But, unfortunately, a few scholarship committees are not able to fund their scholarships this year due to the impacts of COVID-19. Many of these scholarship committees had to cancel fundraising events to fund the awards provided to their scholarship recipients.
The staff at San Benito High School and other generous community members have stepped up to begin filling the funding gap for some of those missing scholarships.
Mrs. Andrade noted: “I am so pleased to have reached out to my Baler family, staff, and to others in our community and they immediately began sending in donations. This just warmed my heart so much. Thank you to all who were so kind and generous.”
If you would like to donate to the Friends of SBHS Scholarship, please contact Mary Andrade by email at [email protected] . Students and parents will be notified via email and regular mail if a student receives one or more scholarships and they will be provided with a link to view the online ceremony recognizing scholarship recipients on May 20. Â
