So far, there haven’t been any serious issues reported to the Office of Emergency Services related to the storm system in San Benito County.
It has rained on and off since Tuesday night, but the local area has been hit the hardest overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
That hasn’t resulted in any major flooding or other issues so far for the San Benito County Office of Emergency Services, confirmed Kevin O’Neill, the emergency services manager.
“At this point, nothing other than nuisance flooding in the city that’s to be expected with any rain,” O’Neill said.
He said the office is keeping a close eye on stream levels and hasn’t been made aware of any significant flooding anywhere in the county.
“This is so early in the season that the ground softened most of it up so we’re not concerned so much,” he said.
Still, O’Neill was preparing to take a drive Thursday afternoon to monitor certain areas of the county, which was hit hard by flooding in early 2017 that caused millions of dollars in damage, particularly in the north county near Lovers Lane.
Local residents will want to brace for continued storm activity going into next week.
The National Weather Service is calling for rain in the forecast Friday night, Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
