City suspends parking lot time limits for holidays

The City of Hollister is continuing its annual tradition of suspending timed parking limits in downtown parking lots for the holiday season in an effort to encourage shopping.
Hollister City Council members Monday unanimously approved of the suspension to help boost downtown foot traffic.
It goes into effect from Nov. 23 to Jan. 2, according to the council agenda. Timed parking on public streets will remain in effect.

According to the agenda summary: As a convenience for downtown merchants and shoppers during the holiday shopping season, staff recommends a suspension of HMC 10.24.040 – Parking time restrictions for the entire downtown district from November 23, 2018, and ending at midnight on January 02, 2019.
The revenue loss is estimated at less than $5,000 for this time period.
