A motorcyclist died in a fatal collision Sunday night on Highway 156 near Union Road, and the California Highway Patrol released details on the accident Monday morning.
The unidentified motorcycle driver was eastbound on Highway 156 at about 8:15 p.m. and traveling at an unknown speed approaching Union Road. The motorcyclist lost control for unknown reasons and lost control, overturning into the westbound lane.
A second driver in what’s described as a dark-colored sedan or SUV was unable to stop or steer away and struck the motorcyclist, who died on the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle fled prior to emergency personnel arriving, and that driver was last seen westbound on 156.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office was working Monday morning to release an identity of the victim.
