CHP: Overturned big rig shut down 25 for four hours

Highway 25 in Hollister was closed for about four hours Wednesday night after a big rig overturned north of Shore Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 8 p.m. when a 64-year-old woman from Lake Geneva, Wis. driving a 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck towing a trailer was northbound on Highway 25 in unincorporated San Benito County.
At this location, it is a straight and flat roadway with the northbound and southbound lanes delineated by two sets of double-yellow lines and an eight-foot paved center median, according to the CHP.
For reasons still under investigation, the driver turned the steering wheel to the left, with the abrupt steering input causing the Peterbilt and trailer to overturn on the right side of the vehicle and trailer.
The truck and trailer came to a rest partially obstructing the northbound lane and fully blocking the southbound lane on Highway 25. As a result, the highway was closed from Highway 156 to Shore Road for approximately four hours.
The driver was uninjured as a result of the collision and drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor.
