Calfire is fighting a fire in the mountains off San Juan Grade Road at Crazy Horse Canyon Road just south of the San Benito County line.
The fire was reported at 2:38 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, while it was at 20 acres and no containment just after 4 p.m.
Calfire crews were on scene fighting the fire with bulldozers, helicopters and planes dropping retardant on the hills in the location about a 20-minute drive from San Juan Bautista through the mountains.
The fire is causing heavy plumes of smoke over the Hollister and San Juan Bautista areas.
