Calaveras/AAA get major facelift

Holy Great Landscaping Batman!

“Cougators” (Cal Cougars and AAA Gators) have another great reason to want to come back to school.  They will be returning to an even more beautiful campus!  The school’s frontage, garden, inner quad, and grassy fields are all getting serious makeovers by the Hollister School District Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Department.  M&O Director Aaron Buzzetta said “Our team is amazing when they work together and there isn’t anything they cannot accomplish!”  No truer words have been spoken and the proof is Cal/AAA has become the visual envy of the community.

The Garden

Over the years, the garden has been adopted, remade and redone countless times. Sadly the garden has always reverted to an untamed weedy frontier. The M&O team cleared, leveled, weed barriered, repaired broken water lines and dropped hundreds of yards of dolomite.  The transformation is miraculous!  New garden boxes, soil and benches are coming and CAL/AAA students have a revitalized place to cultivate and contemplate.

Campus Landscaping

M&O did exceptional work with campus landscaping.  Unsafe tree roots were pulled, broken sprinkler pipe fixed, efficient sprinklers added, grass was reseeded, new concrete laid and all new plants installed.  What a difference!

Grassy Fields

Home to endless Zombie Tag, Flag Football, and soccer games, Cal/AAA grass is easily the most popular real estate on campus.  The field is pummeled, uprooted and chewed up 180 school days a year and is riddled with mud puddles, dead spots, gopher colonies and big holes.  But that is going to change with M&O rehabilitating the grassy fields!  The district will clear, level, degopher (a new HSD word), repair water lines and replace sprinkler heads and replant all the grass. A special thank you to the folks at Maintenance and Operations. Abel Aguirre, Hector Munoz, Martin Villanueva, Naz Martinez, Eliseo Rios, Gabriel Villagomez, Gilberto Villanueva, Ernie, Munoz, Joaquin Murrietta, Encarnacion Rojas, and Al Regalado have all done an exceptional job working on such a mammoth scale in such a short time.
