San Benito High School teachers, counselors and administrators each week recognize students as Baler STRONG Students of the Week. STRONG is an acronym for Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth, representing the core values of San Benito High School. Each student earning recognition is presented with a certificate signifying the honor. Here are the recipients for week of Dec. 16 to 20:
The Migrant Education Department nominated senior Epifanio Vasquez De Jesus for Opportunity, stating, “Epifanio is a dedicated and high achieving student who takes advantage of the opportunities available to him.” Senior Maria Del Carmen Elias Carrillo was nominated for Growth, with her nomination saying, “Carmen is a newcomer from Mexico that has grown significantly in the year she has been in this school. Not only is she an exemplary student with a kind and respectful nature but she is an active participant in the debate team and helps other students by tutoring them after school.”
The CTE Department nominated senior Dezirae Diaz for Growth, saying “Dezirae has grown quite a bit in her skills and leadership in Culinary 3.” CTE also nominated junior McKenna Neff for Teamwork, saying she “shows great leadership in my classroom and during her medical field observation hours. She is always willing to help students who have been absent or who need more time practicing skills to master them. She is one of the most respectful and hard-working students in all of my classes.”
