The Hollister Babe Ruth 15-year-olds need the community’s help after winning the state title and earning a spot in a regional tournament in Arizona.
The team has started a GoFundMe account to raise funds for the trip. So far as of Sunday late morning, they had raised $2,675 of the $5,000 goal for the trip to Surprise, Ariz. They are also holding a car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Diane Diaz Hopkins Insurance, 899 San Benito St.
The team earned a spot in the Pacific Southwest Regional tournament against nine teams from five states and one territory. The team is undefeated, winning four games in the state tournament.
Fourteen players will be going. They include Thomas Breen, Trevor Cordova, Jared Esparza, Braydon Etheridge, Eddie Gonzales, Eli Hatchett, Ryan Io, Tyler Kashiwagi, Andrew Minana, Noah Perez, Anthony Pieracci, Zac Sims, Chris Soto and Andrew Tobias.

San Benito’s 15-year-old All Stars need your help getting to Arizona for the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament. Â These boys went 2-0 in the District 1 tournament and 4-0 in the Central California State tournament to become the Central California representatives. The 15-year-old state tournament was held July 6-11, according to the Babe Ruth website.
They will face off against Guam in the the 1st round on July 23.
