The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest in the Hillcrest Market robbery.
According to a sheriff’s announcement:
At 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 22, a male suspect entered the Hillcrest Market at 1331 Hillcrest Road with a handgun. The suspect demanded money, while displaying a black semi-automatic handgun, from the listed victim/cashier. The suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival with an undisclosed amount of cash. Nobody was injured and there were no shots fired.
Deputy Casada arrived and took the report from the victim. He obtained useful physical evidence, and began to conduct follow up on the case over the weeks since the crime. Deputy Casada was able to develop leads in the case and was able to obtain a positive identification from witnesses in the case. The suspect was identified as a 16 year-old male from Hollister.
Deputy Casada then authored a search warrant for the juvenile male and his residence on El Toro Ct in the city of Hollister. His warrant was signed late on Sunday night, the 5th of March, 2017. This morning (March 6th, 2017), Deputy Casada and a team of patrol deputies from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office served the search warrant on El Toro Ct.
A result of this search warrant was the arrest of the male suspect, and the recovery of evidence tying him to the crime scene. He was later transported to the San Benito County Juvenile Hall where he faces charges of armed robbery.
