The San Benito County Arts Council announced Santino Leahy as the winner of its 4th Annual San Benito County Poetry Out Loud Competition held Friday.
Leahy is a sophomore at Anzar High School and he will go on to represent the county next month at the State Finals in Sacramento.
The arts council thanked other county final participants Xavier Guaracha and Norberto Murillo of Anzar High School, and Christian Casarez and Alanah Suniga Jimenez of San Benito High School. Organizers also thanked judges Anne Caetano, Krystal Lomanto, Shawn Novack, and Louise Roy; lead teachers Katie Deckelmann and Josh Radon; and California Poets in the Schools Amanda Chiado.
