The City of Hollister is set to award Eric Cattoor with a recognition certificate for his actions during the recent Homestead Avenue house fire.
That is among items on the agenda for the 6:30 p.m. meeting at Hollister City Hall, 375 Fifth St.
The following is a summary of items on the agenda:
Citizen Recognition Award
Hollister Fire Chief Bob Martin Del Campo will present The Citizen Recognition certificate to local resident Cattoor for “Distinguished Bravery” during the Nov. 13 fire in the 1000 block of Homestead Avenue. The certificate being presented to Cattoor notes how he noticed flames penetrating the wood roof, notified the residents and helped the family evacuate. The certificate refers to his actions as “life saving.”

Sludge removal
After paying more than $2 million to remove sludge from the Hollister wastewater plants in 2015, the city is proposing to spend $4.6 million on another major sludge removal. The proposal is for the Veolia Water, the contracted operator of the domestic wastewater pond, to hire third-party contractor Synagrow to remove 5,400 tons of sludge from the domestic treatment plant. This comes after the city paid $2.13 million in 2015 to have 1,400 tons of sludge removed from both of the city’s treatment ponds.
West gateway expansion to Westside Boulevard
The City Council will consider adoption of a Resolution expanding CIP C1801 improvements for the West Gateway Streetscape Beautification Plan for Fourth Street — from the current project area of the San Benito River Bridge to Miller Avenue-Live Oak, to Westside Boulevard. The estimated cost of the westside beautifying plan is $1 million.
Los Pinars subdivision
The council will consider a final map for the subdivision. The project is described as east of Anderson Drive and Cushman Street, and east of Bundeson Drive and Cushman Street. It includes 15 single-family homes, 26 townhomes and 44 apartment units.
Solorio Park I subdivision agreement
The city will consider a subdivision improvement agreement for the proposal for 40 single-family homes and 35 duet townhomes on 78 lots at 1001 Fourth St.
Solorio Park II subdivision agreement
This agreement is for the proposal for 25 single-family lots and 12 apartment units at 1040 South St.
Arnold Mobile Home Park water hookup
This is a proposal to connect the Arnold Mobile Home Park at 431 McCloskey Road to the city water system. The project is outside city limits but is being considered because the area is serviced by a private well producing high levels of nitrates.
Hollister Police Department roof replacement
The city will consider spending $167,700 on a roof replacement at the police department. The contract is with Universal Coatings for the roof with a lifespan of 20 years.
