Dear Community Members,
This summer, San Benito Public Health in partnership with the San Benito County Office of Education, County school district Superintendents, Charter and Private school administration have been working to prepare guidelines for San Benito County educational institutions that will facilitate a safe return to site-based classroom instruction for when local public health conditions allow. We are pleased to announce that the Reopening of San Benito County TK-12 Schools framework is ready for distribution, and is applicable to all TK-12 schools, public or private, throughout San Benito County.
We are grateful for the collaborative efforts and the work behind establishing this framework.
On July 17,2020, the California Department of Public Health released updated Guidance for Schools and School-based programs that also set the metrics that all schools (public and private) and county public health officials must use to determine whether to reopen schools to in-person instruction. This framework is aligned with all guidance from the Center for Disease Control and California Department of Public Health.
We recognize the significant impact school closures have on our community, students, families, and staff. We want to thank our community for your continued support during the Pandemic.
Sincerely,
Tracey Belton, Director San Benito County Health and Human Services Agency
Krystal Lomanto, San Benito County Superintendent of Schools
