The Hollister School District will commence the 2020-2021 school on August 17, 2020 with 100% distance learning. The district will hold a Parent Town Hall on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 5pm on the district’s Youtube Channel to further discuss Distance Learning. Superintendent Diego Ochoa said, “We’ve come to agreements with our bargaining partners that will ensure academic accountability, support for struggling students, and student progress. Now it is time to communicate the plan to parents so that they can support their child’s education. I am excited about the 2020-2021 school year!”
INSTRUCTION | 3-5 hours of daily, live online instruction; 1-2 hours of independent work for grades TK-8; whole group & small group |
SCHEDULE & SUBJECTS | Elementary Schools: Consistent Daily Schedule; 30 minutes per day of class meeting & social support; 2 hours per day of reading and writing; 30 minute lunch break; 1 – 2 hours per day of math (depending on grade level); 30 minutes per day of English Language Development Middle School- Consistent Daily Schedule; 5 classes per day; 50 minutes for each class; 30 minute lunch break |
MONITORING | ADMINISTRATION: Principals and Assistant Principals; Daily monitoring of Google Meetings to ensure attendance; Daily review of Footsteps 2 Brilliance, Google Classroom, Benchmark Advance, Sanford Harmony, and Eureka Math data; Home visits for students not attending class. LEARNING SUPPORT MONITORS- Teachers and Classified Staff; Daily monitoring of attendance and work completion. Daily review of Footsteps 2 Brilliance, Google Classroom, Benchmark Advance, Sanford Harmony, and Eureka Math data; Daily parent emails and phone calls; Referrals to administration and teachers for tutoring; Referrals to administration for non-attending students. GRADING: Student work will be graded. Students will take tests while on distance learning. Students are required to attend every day. |
