Hollister Police Detectives have made additional arrests stemming from the downtown shooting on May 8.

On May 8 at 6:11 p.m., Hollister police officers responded to Jessie’s Gas at 710 San Benito St. regarding the report of  shots being fired. Several callers reported to 911 that there was a fight at that location that had resulted in people possibly being shot.

When police arrived, all involved had left the scene. Ulysses Urbina was later detained in a car stop while driving one of the suspect vehicles, and was later arrested for crimes related to the initial fight call.

Urbina is not believed to be the shooting suspect. Urbina was booked at the San Benito County Jail on a single count of assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The two shooting victims were later contacted by police when they were transported to the hospital.

Investigators focused their attention to the vehicle seen leaving the area with the suspected shooter. Witnesses came forward and the downtown surveillance cameras were instrumental in the investigation. Officers and Investigators were actively following leads and conducting surveillance of the address associated with the suspect vehicle.  After several days of no activity at the home, on Thursday May 14, detectives along with UNET Agents, conducted a search warrant of a home on the 400 block of Rajkovich Way. It appeared the occupants had not been home since the shooting the previous week.  However, detectives were able to obtain suspected evidence of the crime at the home.

Further follow up by detectives led them to speak with a family member of the suspected shooter/s.  That family member agreed to assist police with locating the persons of interest. With the family members’ cooperation, the two individuals agreed to come to the police department. On May 15, they came to the department to meet with detectives. Manuel Juarez, 18, pictured above, was eventually booked at the San Benito County Jail and a 17-year-old juvenile was booked at Juvenile Hall  for the charges of attempted murder.

This is still an ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this investigation is requested to contact the Detective Bureau at The Hollister Police Departmentat 831-636-4330.
