Courtesy of San Benito County Public Health Services:
While in the past months it has not been recommended that the healthy population wear masks or other face coverings during this COVID-19 event, San Benito County Public Health Services has modified our position as to the best manner to protect yourself. As you know, we are learning new things about COVID-19 every day. It is now suggested by the California Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control that we wear face coverings, such as scarves (dense fabric, without holes), bandanas, neck gaiter, or other fabric face coverings to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
We have attached flyers in English and Spanish updating the use of masks and face covering suggestions. We also provide a number of “do it yourself” videos that show you how to make these coverings at home. You may want to take this opportunity while sheltering-in-place to show community support by making and donating masks to those in need right here in San Benito County. A sincere act of kindness. Please contact Public Health Service if you would like to donate masks at (831) 637-5367.
Remember masks are always used in addition to all the other necessary protective measures. Stay at home, but when you must go out or report to work, practice social distancing and wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer and don’t touch you face.
