Baler STRONG recipients named for the week

San Benito High School teachers, counselors and administrators each week recognize students as Baler STRONG Students of the Week. STRONG is an acronym for Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth, representing the core values of San Benito High School. Each student earning recognition is presented with a certificate signifying the honor.

Here are the recipients for week of January 13 to 17:

Nominated by both the Administration and the Leadership Departments for Opportunity, junior Alec Garcia’s nominations note that he “has taken the opportunity and created an opportunity for others to make a difference on our campus. He is an outstanding leader!” and “Alec is to be commended for his leadership and initiative. He has taken the lead in organizing a team of student leaders and working with our faculty to find proactive ways to improve our school culture.”

The Leadership Department nominated senior Grace Tomasini for Teamwork, stating, “Grace has consistently worked well with her classmates and created unity for them. She is an outstanding leader and has a natural ability to make people feel included and a part of things.”

Nominated for Teamwork by the Administration Department, senior Victoria Carlsen is an incredibly positive student who is an outstanding office T.A. She consistently helps with the Spotlight Speakers and offers to help long before it is needed. She is bright, articulate, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Student Services nominated junior Sheyla Garcia-Robles for Growth, commenting, “She demonstrates bravery and growth on campus daily. She is able to reflect and learn through her on growth.”

Student Services nominated senior Ocean Burger for Opportunity, stating, that he “has taken an opportunity to change his behavior to meet the needs to be a better student. He has demonstrated growth as a leader and an athlete.”
