The local California Highway Patrol office chased a suspect from Gilroy to San Jose, culminating in an officer-involved shooting, according to the CHP.
The incident happened at 10:44 p.m. Monday when officers attempted to stop a Ford Mustang for no tail lights. The driver fled at high rates of speed and in a dangerous manner, according to the CHP.
The CHP did not initially indicate where the pursuit began.
The chase ended in a cul-de-sac in San JOse where the suspect vehicle collided with a patrol vehicle, which led to the officer-involved shooting.
The vehicle escaped the scene but was located with the help of San Jose police. Authorities arrested a male juvenile believed to be the driver, while no injuries were reported.
