Forecast: Rainy stretch to start this evening, last through weekend

It’s looking like rain is in the forecast starting today and lasting at least through the Thanksgiving weekend.

The first major rain of the season is on its way to San Benito County. It’s likely headed to the area in the early evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Local residents should expect on-again, off-again precipitation through the weekend and well into next week. Today and tonight, there could be up to an inch of rain in the Hollister area, according to the weather service.

Then going forward in the week, thunderstorms are possible Wednesday, and there’s about a 30 percent chance for light showers Thanksgiving day.

It looks like Friday might be the one break from the rain this weekend, with showers in the forecast going forward several days after that.

Along with the rain, locals can expect fairly windy conditions tonight as well, with gusts as high as 28 mph, according to the forecast.
