Halloween is a rite of passage for children, who happily transform themselves into zombies and superheroes, pirates and princesses, aliens and sports stars — all in the pursuit of treats.
This year the Central Coast YMCA will provide a safe and fun environment where children can join friends for Halloween festivities that include games, treats, costume contests and more.

The Y Spooktacular returns to each of the five Central Coast YMCA locations, with slight variations on the theme. The free community event features trick-or-treat stations, arts and crafts, a costume parade and fun for the whole family. Action takes place on Friday, Oct. 25, from 6:30-8 p.m. (5:30-7 p.m. in Watsonville). The festivities at South County YMCA branch are set for Oct. 18.
At the San Benito YMCA, lights go on after school at Sunnyslope Elementary.
