San Benito High School continued its practice of recognizing students and others with Baler STRONG awards for their commitment to excellence or support of the local school.

According to announcements from the high school released this week:

San Benito High School teachers, counselors and administrators each week recognize students as Baler STRONG Students of the Week. STRONG is an acronym for (Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth), representing the core values of San Benito High School.

Each student earning recognition is presented with a certificate signifying the honor. Here are the recipients from the Math Department for the week of March 11-15. The following students were presented with Baler STRONG certificates:

From the Career Technical Education Department are seniors Matteo Ventimiglia and Emily Lathrop. Ventimiglia was nominated for Scholarship, with his nomination noting that he “has been a focused student in accounting, always striving to do his best, get his work done in a timely manner, and has made a strong effort to improve his accounting skills and help those around him.” Lathrop’s nomination recognizes her for Scholarship, stating, “Emily takes every task seriously. She is always looking for ways to perfect her work and is eager to help wherever she can. All of her decisions in class are well thought out and she manages her time very well.”

The Migrant Department nominated senior Anai Murillo-Gonzalez for Nurture, saying she “has been a great student tutor helping out students in the algebra class during her off block. She also has taken it upon herself to volunteer her time after school and help a group of students.”

The department also nominated junior Maria Consuelo Elias Carrillo for Growth. The nominators noted that she”arrived from Mexico late November and in the short time she has been here has made significant growth in her English acquisition and overall academic performance.”

Additionally, Superintendent Shawn Tennenbaum presented members of the San Benito County Board of Supervisors with Baler STRONG awards Tuesday for their support of San Benito High School. ‬
