Realtors group announces grant funds for first-time homebuyers

The San Benito County Association of Realtors announced it expects to receive a $50,000 grant for first-time homebuyers to use up to $1,500 toward closing costs.

It is a Housing Affordability Grant from the California Association of Realtors House Affordability Fund.

The project came up at the local organization’s board of directors meeting in March.

“Our association strives to help the community of San Benito County, and this grant will make housing more affordable in our county,” group President Tony LoBue said in a statement.

The applications will be on the association website, while applicants must be represented by a county Realtors Association member in good standing as their buying agent, and they must be buying a property in San Benito County.
