Latino Asset Builders group names housing manager as 2019 fellow

The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders (NALCAB) recently announced that Elias Barocio Jr has been named a 2019 NALCAB Pete Garcia Community Economic Development fellow.

Elias Barocio Jr currently serves as Migrant Housing Manager at the County of San Benito- Hollister Migrant Center. Elias was awarded a full scholarship for the program.

The Pete Garcia Community Economic Development Fellowship is a nine-month leadership training program for Latino leaders from around the country. This year, 18 members were selected and information about the program can be viewed at https://www.nalcab.org/petegarciafellowship/.

Established in 2010, the Fellowship was developed to ensure that next generation Latino leaders build the practical, personal and professional skills needed to fill the increasing leadership gap in the community economic development field. It provides mid-career Latino practitioners specialized professional development training that prepares them to become strong executive director candidates in the community development field.

Through this program, NALCAB is addressing a growing need in the next-generation leadership among Latino-serving asset-building organizations. To date, the program has graduated a total of 117 Latino Leaders from across the country, representing 73 unique nonprofit organizations in 24 states and the District of Columbia.

This year our title sponsor is JPMorgan Chase Foundation with additional funding from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and the Southwest Airlines Foundation.
