The San Benito High School Feminist Club participated in the Women’s March in Santa Cruz on Jan. 19.

Club Advisor Melissa Peters said it was “a huge and exciting day for the Feminist Club here on campus!”

“The students came away with such a positive experience getting to participate and make their voices heard. They are also so pumped from the positive feedback they got from other marchers about being so active and vocal at their age,” she said.

The Santa Cruz Women’s March & Rally 2019 was a partnership with Santa Cruz Indivisible and the Santa Cruz Police Department.

According to Santa Cruz Indivisible’s announcement on the event:

For the past two years Santa Cruz Women’s March has hosted the largest march in Santa Cruz history. The purpose: To allow all voices to be heard as the world joined in marching for multiple causes, civility and truth. Collectively we found our voices and showed those in power we will not back down. Marching together has changed how we think as a society and as individuals.

The march was at 10 am at Pacific and Cathcart streets. It was followed with an 11 a.m. rally at the county administration building.
