Hollister School District Board members Tuesday appointed Diego Ochoa as the next superintendent.
Trustees unanimously approved Ochoa’s hiring at a board meeting Tuesday. He will succeed interim Superintendent William Barr and Lisa Andrew, who resigned last summer after two years on the job.
Ochoa comes from his post as superintendent of the Esparto Unified School District in Yolo County.
A previous statement from the district notes how Ochoa is a bilingual superintendent with 20 years of service as a special education teacher, principal and superintendent.
The board had retained the services of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, a national school executive search firm, to assist in the search. Ochoa was selected from a field of 47 candidates.
Ochoa will oversee the nearly 6,000-student district and could begin his role in February 2019. His contract is set for three years with a $209,000 annual salary.
