Man shot in drive-by while walking along McCray Street

A 19-year-old was shot Sunday on McCray Street, but is expected to recover, according to a Hollister police lieutenant.
The shooting occurred at 4:45 p.m. in the 600 block of McCray Street, Lt. Dan Winn told San Benito Live on Monday.
According to Winn, the 19-year-old male was walking along McCray Street with an adult woman when someone in a passing vehicle heading northbound shot toward them three to five times.
The victim was struck once in the torso area and was flown out by helicopter to the hospital.
“He’s expected to be fine,” Winn said, noting how the victim was still receiving treatment Monday afternoon.
Police described the suspect vehicle as a gray, gold or tan sedan, possibly a Honda or Toyota. There is no known motive at this time, Winn said.
“We have no information who they are,” he said of the suspect.
Hollister police released the following in a statement on the shooting Monday afternoon:
On November 18, 2018, about 4:50 P.M., Officers were dispatched to the area of South Street and Prospect Avenue for a shooting that had just occurred.
The 19-year-old male victim had been walking with his girlfriend on the west sidewalk of McCray Street. A vehicle approached northbound on McCray Street and someone in the vehicle shot at the couple 3 to 5 times.
The male victim was struck in the torso and was transported by helicopter to a undisclosed bay area trauma center. He is currently receiving treatment for a gunshot wound and is expected to survive.
The suspect vehicle is described as a grey or gold sedan, possibly a Honda or Toyota.
The Hollister Police Department processed the scene for possible evidence and contacted local businesses with possible surveillance footage. The police department is also asking for anyone who might have been in the area during that time, witnessed the shooting or the vehicle speeding away to contact police with information they may have. Sometimes, information that someone might think is irrelevant might be the key to solving the case.
