The Council of San Benito County governments reminded drivers of a project starting Monday on Highway 129 west of Aromas that will cause up to 20-minute delays, while there will be a full closure to the area from early October through December.
The project includes safety improvements and a road realignment at Highway 129 and Carlton Road between Aromas and Watsonville.
According to a Caltrans statement on the improvements:
A construction project on Highway 129/Carlton Road for road realignment and intersection safety improvements near Watsonville will begin next Monday, Sept. 24
Starting Monday, roadwork hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm with one-way reversing traffic control on Hwy 129. Up to 20-minute delays are anticipated.
On Thursday, Oct. 4, Carlton Road at Highway 129 will fully close through December, weather permitting. Thompson Road will be used as a detour. Highway 129 will remain open to through traffic. Please refer to Google map link below.

Electronic message boards will be posted alerting motorists of this roadwork, which is expected to be complete in Summer 2019. The contractor for this $2 million project is Graniterock Construction of Watsonville, CA.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over or slow down when driving through Caltrans work zones.
