Father receives help delivering baby without doctor

A local family that recently received help delivering their baby outside of a medical facility will get a chance to thank the responders who helped them.

On Sept. 2, local 911 responders received a call for an imminent delivery in the area of the county south of Hollister and north of Tres Pinos.

“Crews responded out there and assisted with the delivery of the child,” Hollister fire Battalion Chief Phil Rossi told San Benito Live on Tuesday.

Rossi said the dispatchers and others assisted the father with the delivery process before the arrival of emergency crews because there wasn’t enough time to get to a hospital.

“Anytime you’re delivering a child outside of any medical care, they want to make sure everything’s being done appropriately,” Rossi said.

That was the case when responders stepped in and helped the local family. In the aftermath, this Thursday afternoon, the family will get a chance to meet and greet with response crews at the Hollister Fire Department Station 2 off Airline Highway for a special event, with media invited to attend.
