The Hollister City Clerk’s Office sent a notice out after the nomination deadline Friday on how the nomination period for three local races will be extended by five days, to Wednesday, because the respective incumbents aren’t running again.
The races are for treasurer, District 3 council and District 4 council. Treasurer Geri Johnson won’t seek reelection; nor will Council members Karson Klauer or Jim Gillio.
So far, two candidates have qualified for the ballot in District 3, Honor Spencer and Raul Escanero. One candidate has qualified in District 4, Marty Richman, and one candidate has qualified for the ballot to run for treasurer, Anietra Gomez.
According to the clerk’s office:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council Member(s) and City Treasurer Candidate Nomination Period have been extended 5 days for the consolidated General Election which will be held in the City of Hollister on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, for the following Offices:
One (1) City Treasurer of the City of Hollister (full four year term)
One (1) Council Member of the City of Hollister, District 4 (2 year term)
One (1) Council Member of the City of Hollister, District 3 (full four year term)
The process of nomination for the November 6, 2018, City of Hollister General Municipal Election which opened July 16th have been extended through Wednesday, August 15th at 5:00 p.m. for non-incumbent filers for the offices listed above as prescribed by California Elections Code Section § 10225.
Nomination paperwork is available in person in the Office of the City Clerk, 375 Fifth Street, Hollister. Appointments are not necessary, but are available by calling City Clerk, Christine Black, or Deputy City Clerk Nova Romero at (831) 636-4300.
If only one person is nominated for an elective office, or if no one is nominated, appointment to the elective office may be made as prescribed by California Elections Code Section § 10229.
The polls will be open Tuesday, November 6, 2018 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
