The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday will host a slideshow Q&A on the proposed transportation tax headed for the November ballot.
The chamber emailed members informing them of the “2018 San Benito County Roads and Transportation Safety Investment Plan Informational Slideshow and Q&A” set for 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the chamber office, 243 Sixth St.. Those interested in attending can RSVP to [email protected].
The proposed 1 percent sales tax would raise $485 million for transportation projects over the next 30 years, according to a staff report. The measure would need two-third support to gain approval. This tax push comes more than two years after voters rejected Measure P, a half-cent sales tax that gained 59.77 percent of the vote while needing a two-thirds majority.
