Relay for Life
The 19th annual Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society is set for this upcoming weekend in San Benito County. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday and ends at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ladd Lane Elementary School, 161 Ladd Lane in Hollister.
San Benito Classic Livestock Show
The San Benito Classic Livestock Show is set for Friday-Sunday at Bolado Park. The group’s mission is to promote the livestock industry and provide educational opportunities. For more, go to https://sanbenitoclassic.weebly.com.
Movies Under the Stars
The City of Hollister’s annual “Movies Under the Stars” series is Friday. The city over the summer is hosting six family-friendly move events. Each one will take place on a Friday at around 8:30 p.m. The lineup yet includes Peter Rabbit on Aug. 3 and Cars 3 on Aug. 10. The movies are at Dunne Park. Visitors can bring lawn chairs and blankets, while there are free games and activities for the whole family.
Living History Days
Step back to the early days of San Juan. Meet mountain men, Civil War soldiers, Victorian ladies, and more. Enjoy craft and cooking demonstrations. Enjoy an old-fashioned soda in the historic Plaza Hotel Saloon. See historic horse-drawn vehicles inside the Plaza Stables and Victorian furnishings in the Plaza Hotel and Zanetta family home. It’s at the plaza next to Old Mission San Juan Bautista on the first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
First Saturday at Vertigo
Vertigo Coffee Roasters will hold another First Saturday artist reception. It is set for 6 p.m. at the coffee shop in San Juan Bautista. This month, the shop will be feature “Prayers for Complexity Accumulators,” photography by Michael Boehnker! DJ @aloexvera will be there as well.
Eagles tribute at Guerra Cellars
Hollister Concerts at Guerra Cellars is presenting The Eagles tribute band “The Long Run Tribute to the Eagles” from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the vineyard, 500 John Smith Road. Pickleball clinic
Former Grand Slam tennis competitor Helle Sparre will host pickleball events at San Juan School Aug. 5-7. On Sunday, there will be match plan from 5-6 p.m. and open play from 6-8 p.m. on the newly designed pickleball courts there. The cost is $15 per player. There are three, two-hour clinics offered per day over the three days.
