Teaching Artist Georgesse Gomez will lead artists in a two-hour demo, lecture, and workshop on impressionist painting with a focus on the artist Vincent van Gogh.
A short video will be viewed. Participants will look closely at how van Gogh uses the complementary colors of orange/ blue and red/green to bring life to his painting; a spectacular use of color. Participants will also examine van Gogh’s brushwork paying close attention to the movement and direction of strokes.
Artists will work from van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” or “Almond Branch in a Glass.” All materials included, just bring yourself and an enthusiasm for learning and color!
Painting with Impressionist Vincent van Gogh will meet on Thursday, July 19 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the Annex, 217 Fifth St., in downtown Hollister. Tickets are $35/person and include all materials. Please contact the Arts Council at (831) 636.2787 or at [email protected] with questions.
ABOUT GEORGESSE GOMEZ
Georgesse, an impressive representational painter whose engaging brush work attracts collectors nationally, has been recognized by Oil Painters of America and National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society in national and regional juried competitions. She has exhibited at San Francisco’s de Young Museum, Triton Museum, Santa Clara, CA, Cutter and Cutter Fine Art, FL., Mountainsong Galleries, Carmel, CA., and Dunnegan Gallery of Fine Art, MO. Georgesse captures the quiet, yet profound moments of daily life offering a poetic view of humanity in the context of domestic settings.
Georgesse received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in painting from The Academy of Art University in 2016. She is inspired by the color theory and brush work of the impressionist movement and continues to grow in knowledge and technique by drawing from the masters of the contemporary realism movement. She is actively involved in her local arts community offering monthly workshops through San Benito County Arts Council. Look for her at the Triton Museum Salon show in November 2017.
