Introducing Hollister’s newest police officer, Melissa Castro.
In late June, she graduated from the Police Academy Class SB145 and was later sworn-in, in front of family and friends, by our Deputy City Clerk Nova Romero.
Melissa is a San Benito High School and Cal State University, Stanislaus Graduate. Please give Officer Castro a warm welcome.
You will notice Officer Castro pinning something on her father’s chest in the second photograph. At the Hollister Police Department, we recognize that it’s a long journey from the application to graduation from a police academy and finally getting sworn in. Many of us received a lot of support along that journey. We let our newly sworn-in officers recognize a person that helped during that journey by letting them pin on one of our mini badges on that person. It’s a tradition we have been doing for many years. This time, Officer Castro chose her dad.
