Hollister police arrest suspect in Oregon rape case

Hollister police July 4 arrested a man wanted on suspicion of rape in Oregon.

According to a statement released Friday by the Hollister Police Department:

On July 4, 2018 at about 11:45 am, Sergeant Michael Paddy was patrolling the area of Vista Park Hill. He noticed a suspicious occupied vehicle parked in a handicapped parking space near the playground. There were 3 persons in the vehicle at the time of the contact and no handicap parking placard was visible. The occupants appeared to have been sleeping in the car.

Sgt. Paddy contacted the person sitting in the drivers seat who was initially uncooperative. He advised he didn’t have a local address and was transient. The Segeant conducted a vehicle check and a warrants check on the man identified as Shaun Allen Heflin (29) from the State of Colorado.

The check for warrants revealed heflin was a fugitive out of the State of Oregon. The charges in the warrant include charges for rape, rape of a child and other sexual assault charges. The State of Oregon advised they would extradite Heflin nationwide if arrested.

Heflin was taken into custody without incident and transported to the San Benito County Jail where he was booked for the warrant.
