The following are some of the local events happening this weekend in San Benito County:
Movies Under the Stars: The City of Hollister’s annual “Movies Under the Stars” series is around the corner with the first film showing Friday. The city will host six family-friendly movie events this summer. Each one will take place on a Friday at around 8:30 p.m. The lineup includes Lego Ninjago Movie on Friday, Despicable Me on June 29, Coco on July 20, Wonder on July 27, Peter Rabbit on Aug. 3 and Cars 3 on Aug. 10. The movies are at Dunne Park. Visitors can bring lawn chairs and blankets, while there are free games and activities for the whole family.
Saddle Horse Parade returns: According to the San Benito County Saddle Horse Association: It’s back! The Downtown Parade is the kick off to a week of festivities leading up to the 85th anniversary of The San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo. The parade is set for 11 a.m. in downtown Hollister.
DeRose wine tasting: On Saturday from 11-5, it’s time for a party at DeRose Winery. Come taste select library wines from a private stash, and enjoy our favorite food pairings. It has a $40 tasting fee that includes entrance, food and wine tasting. The event will feature Old Vine Zin, Cab Franc, Negrette, Continental Cab, Hollywood Red, and more! Guests are welcome. Los Lobos concert: Los Lobos will perform Saturday at Guerra Cellars to kick off the Hollister Concerts series. The show is 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with an opening act by Ryan Scripps. For more information, go to hollisterconcerts.com.
Hollister’s Father’s Day Weekend Car Show is coming. It is free and will include hot dogs, snacks, and drinks. It will feature classics and antiques, trucks, muscle cars, boats, work-in-progress vehicles, sports cars, hot rods, exotic cars, special interest vehicles, race cars, motorcycles , bicycles and mini-bikes. Vintage car run: The Model T Endurance Run and Lowland Tour is headed back to downtown Hollister for the second straight year this June. The 49th annual Endurance Run and Lowland Tour is scheduled for June 17, a Sunday, in downtown Hollister. It is put on by the Santa Clara Valley Model T Ford Club. Last year, the club decided to put on the event in Hollister, which had rave reviews for its quaint atmosphere and cooperation from the city. There are various categories for the event. The Speedsters will check-in at Tiffany Ford from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lowland Tour check-in is at 7:30 a.m. on Fifth Street, where cars will line up on the same block as Hollister City Hall. The Lowland Tour departure is 8:45 a.m. and will finish at Tiffany Ford at 12:30-1:30 p.m. with a luncheon and awards presentation after.
