It’s another one of those packed weekend of events in San Benito County. The following are some of the Calendar Picks for this weekend as listed on SanBenitoLive.com’s Calendar:
Key Club Pasta Feed: On Friday, Kiwanis and the San Benito High School Key Club are hosting the annual pasta feed scholarship fundraiser. All proceeds will go to Key Club senior scholarships. Key Club is sponsored by the local Kiwanis organization, and creates student leaders through community service. The students volunteer at several community events throughout the year. The event is set for 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Baler Alley at San Benito High School. It is take-out orders only. Adult meals are $9, with kids meals at $5. It includes pasts, with or without meat, with garlic bread, salad, bottled water and cookies. Tickets are sold at Mars Hill Coffeehouse, Intero Real Estate and from Key Club members.
Oriana Chorale and Mr. O’s Jazz Band: The Oriana Chorale and Mr. O’s Jazz Band are presenting “All That Jazz” on May 18 and May 20 at the Christ Fellowship Church, 2066 San Benito St. Tickets are $15 in advance at Postal Graphics or $20 at the door. It is $10 for students. It is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
Arts Out Loud: San Benito High School’s Arts Out Loud visual arts performances event is set for Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 at 3-6 p.m. in Room 348. It will include a reception with refreshments with student art for sale.
Bingo, Bling & Wine: If you’re looking to attend the Bingo, Bling & Wine benefit May 19, you might want to purchase those tickets soon because they’re running low. The San Benito County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event called Bingo, Bling & Wine at Aroma Cellars on May 19 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event will benefit Chamberlain’s Children Center, Emmaus House, CASA of San Benito and the Chamber Foundation Scholarship Fund. The chamber on Monday afternoon announced there had been just 18 tickets left. Tickets are $35, and attendees can enjoy a glass of wine while playing Bingo at Aroma Cellars, 650 San Benito St. in downtown Hollister. There will be sample appetizers from local eateries and a variety of bling. Tickets are available at the Chamber office on Sixth Street and there was a 60-ticket limit.
Portuguese Festival: The SDES Portuguese Hall will host the “Queen Coronation” and dance May 19, at 9 p.m., at 695 Seventh St., followed by the parade May 20, at 10 a.m. The parade route begins at the Hall, going East on Seventh Street, North on San Benito Street and West on fifth Street to Sacred Heart Church for the 11 a.m. mass. The mass is followed by the serving of Portuguese sopas, games and auction. A dinner and dance is held at the Hall at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Anthony Silva (831) 801-5584.
Festival de la Familia: The Youth Alliance is presenting a 2018 Festival de la Familia on Sunday at Dunne Park. The event is happening from noon to 6 p.m. at the park, 507 Sixth St., in Hollister.
