SBHS board recognizes student achievers

Courtesy of San Benito High School:
Baler Aeja Rosette was recognized by the SBHS District Board of Trustees on Tuesday for being named a National Merit Scholarship finalist. Rosette on Wednesday is going on recruiting visits to Columbia and Cornell universities. ‬
The high school previously posted this about Rosette’s achievement of being named a semi-finalist:
In the annual National Merit Scholarship Program, 50,000 academically talented high school students are honored, but only 16,000 of them are named semifinalists based on their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Those semifinalists have an opportunity to advance to the finalist level and compete for National Merit Scholarships.
Semifinalists, such as Rosette, are the highest scorers in each state and represent less than 1 percent of each state’s high school seniors.
She was among several student achievers recognized. According to SBHS:
The Baler Migrant Ed Debate Team and Advisor Chris Lasley were recognized by the SBHS District Board of Trustees on Tuesday for taking second place at a regional competition in San Jose. ‬
