SBHS bond panel gives positive remarks

A committee weighed in with positive remarks about San Benito High School District’s use of funds from passage of two voter-approved bonds.
The high school district’s bond oversight committee reported the district is in full compliance with the spending. That happened at last week’s district board meeting.
The committee report includes a detailed list of projects and their costs related to Measure G and Measure U funding. Those are bond measures passed by voters in recent years to fund over $100 million in improvements.
The high school reported the following in its weekly newsletter:
Director of Finance and Operations Roseanne Lascano presented to the Board of Trustees the 2016-17 report and financial audit and performance audits from the committee, which was established when voters approved the bond Measure G in 2014 and expanded to oversee both bonds when Measure U passed in 2016. During fiscal year 2016-17, the committee held 10 meetings and made three inspections of projects in progress. The report noted that San Benito High School is in “full compliance with its responsibilities” and that the committee is “pleased with the quality of the bonds program.” Based on the progress of Measures G and U, the report stated, “we are confident the bond projects will finish on schedule, within budget and in compliance.” The report will be published on the district website and shared with local media.
