San Benito County is suddenly the capital of California bluegrass.
The Northern California Bluegrass Society announced there is a third bluegrass festival coming to Bolado Park in the Tres Pinos area of San Benito County.
The Brookdale Bluegrass Festival in March joins the Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival in August and the Hickstival event in May.
Tres Pinos now has more bluegrass festivals than any other city or town in California, according to Northern California Bluegrass Society President MIchael Hall.
Here is the festival line-up Hall provided:
March 9-11: Brookdale Bluegrass Festival, San Benito County Historical Park. Held at various Santa Cruz Mountains venues since 1998 and now for the first time in Tres Pinos.
May 25-27: Hickstival, Bolado Park. Held at Bolado for approximately the past six years, (except for missing two years ago).
August 9-12: Good Old Fashioned Bluegrass Festival, San Benito County Historical Park. This festival was first held at Bolado Park in 1994 and turns 25 this year. It is presented by the Northern California Bluegrass Society.
